SEO Checklist in Blogger

Billions of people use the internet now a day in their quest for knowledge. Among those billions, if only a few millions of search items are related to your posts and only a few thousand enters in your website daily then you can easily earn thousands of dollar a month. But the biggest question is "Do your post appear in Google Search?" 

Writing SEO friendly posts are essential if you want your posts to rank in Google Search. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It means you must optimize your posts so that Google select your posts to show on the top search result. It may significantly increase views on your posts.  More views are likely to translate into more revenue.

Following are the questions you must ask yourself before you publish your posts:

What are your keywords?

When you are going to write a blog post, you must have some keywords in your mind. Suppose you want to write about the Production Function. In your article, you can write about Types of the production function, Short-run production function, Log run production function, Leontief Production Function, Cob-Douglas Production Function, CSE Production Function, Assumptions of production Function, etc. These are your keywords. 
You can use Google Trend for Keyword Research.

Do your keywords appear in Tittle, Permalink, Headings (Major Heading, Heading, Subheading or Minor Headings) and Search Description?

After you have decided your keywords, you have to decide where to place your keywords. In the above example, Production Function is your main keyword so it must be shown in your title and permalink. Other keywords should appear in headings and search description.

Have you given a proper title to your posts?

Your title should capture your whole contents in a few words. If your title is irrelevant to your content then it is likely that the reader will not like to read your other articles.

Have you given a proper custom permalink to your posts?

Permalinks are generated automatically but automatic permalinks may not be SEO friendly. Hence, you must use custom permalinks.

Have you given a Search Description to your posts?

Search Description appears with your title in Google search. It should contain what the reader is going to read under the title. The limit is 150 characters only (including space).

Have you used Major Headings, Headings, Subheadings and Minor Headings in your posts?

You must use headings as far as possible. It is important because your article appears on Google search on the basis of headings when the searched item does not match the title and permalink.
 

Have your given proper Caption, Title text and Alt text to the images you have uploaded?

If you have not given Caption, Title text and Atl text to your images then it will never appear on Google image search. Many a time, the reader enters your website through these images.

Have your provided links to your other posts in the post you are going to publish?

If you have written many other articles then you must put links to relevant articles in your present post. You can put it under the heading - Related Article, See Also, etc.

Have you proofread your article to correct spelling mistakes, grammatical mistakes or any other formatting error?

To error is human. Therefore, you must proofread your article after you have completed it and correct the errors if any.

Do you share your posts on social media after you have published it?

Sharing your posts social media is a good practice to increase your views on your posts. However, you should not ask the reader to click the link when you share on social media. Instead, you should tell about the usefulness of your article.

Do you review your posts from time to time?

You can always edit your old posts. So, you should review your old posts from time to time and try to make it more useful by adding more information.

On the basis of the above questions, you have the following checklist:
  1. Decide your keywords
  2. Put your keywords in title, permalinks, headings, and search description
  3. Give a proper Title
  4. Give a proper Permalink
  5. Give a proper Search Description
  6. Use Major Headings, Heading, Subheading and Minor Heading wherever possible
  7. Give proper Caption, Title text and Alt text if you use images
  8. Give links to other posts
  9. Proofread your post
  10. Publish and share on social media
  11. Review your posts from time to time and add more information if possible
At last, you should bear in mind:
Content is the king. If your content is not useful to readers then they may never come back to you and even suggest people not to go to you.
